CHRISTIAN SCHMIDT

... [mobiles] are always in motion. They dance. They circle. They breathe the wind. Without repeating themselves. Without tiring. In absolute silence. As if they were outside of space and time. And they always find their way back to balance.
That's why I build mobiles.
-Christian Schmidt

Christian Schmidt is a virtual artist. He creates his works in Switzerland, where he also lives. Originally inspired by Alexander Calder, the inventor of mobiles, he has found his own artistic language without forgetting the most important aspect of mobiles - their lightness. Christian Schmidt is particularly fascinated by the subject of kinetics, derived from the Greek word "kinesis," "movement." Kinetics studies how forces affect the movements of a body, such as its speed. In Mobiles, the theme of movement - and thus kinetics - is central. But as much as the Mobiles move, they always find their way back to equilibrium. They are like us humans. We, too, are constantly searching for our balance in the ups and downs of everyday life...
