"HIGH COUNTRY COLOR"
Louise Minks
Friday, August 17th, 4-7pm

Louise Minks

I have taught and painted regularly in New Mexico since my residency at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos in 1997.  With a passion  for color and shape, I am always drawn to the high desert forms of the southwest.  Translating those forms into semi-abstract paintings is  part of the challenge.  My preference is to paint on site and feel the immediacy of the  subject matter, but I also enjoy developing the painting further, on its own terms, away from the scene before my eyes.  I often do second and third paintings based on my own original version, moving things around and revising composition and drama. My experience and training as an historian also influences my work, for I am always interested in meaning and often incorporate historical and cultural perspective and symbol into my paintings

Bruce Campbell
Thrusday, June 28th, 4-7pm

Bruce Campbell reception

Envision Gallery cordially invites you to a showing of new works by Bruce Campbell. Working with discarded steel and wood, Bruce Campbell creates sculptures with personality, revealing haunting imagery in civilization’s junk. Please join us, Thursday June 28th from four to seven at the Envision Gallery located 3 miles north of the plaza at the Overland Complex.

Campbell will be one of the key artists of the Taos Solar Music Festival.
Gigantic recycled earth spirits will be coming to life at the Taos Solar Music Festival (june 29th to july 1st). Artist Bruce Campbell is putting a call out to the Taos community for large metal forms, which he will resurrect as mystical beings on the festival grounds in Kit Carson Park. Over the next seven months Bruce will be rolling around the desert collecting water tanks, cement mixers, sheet metal and other miscellaneous industrial debris to be painted and sculpted into Gods, Goddesses, Kings, Queens, Saints, Spirits, Totems, and other modern/primitive industrial kachinas. For more information contact the gallery.

TED EGRI DAY

Ted Egri

Ted Egri on his 93rd birthday

Envision Gallery celebrated Taos legend Ted Egri on his 93rd birthday with a lifetime retrospective of his modernist work. The show included many of his masterful signature bronzes as well as several original pen and ink drawings and limited edition silk screen prints. Over 300 people celebrated the life and works of this talented and creatively undaunted artist.

The celebration continued with a wonderful wedding ceremony between Ted and his beautiful new wife Janet. It was a very special day enjoyed by friends, collectors and a perfect mix of the Taos (and nation wide) communities.

The Mayor, Bobby Duran of Taos, proclaimed May 21st as "Ted Egri Day".
