Mary Wilbanks is inspired by the rugged beauty of the high desert. As she sits and sketches in the canyons she is entranced not only by the age and grandeur of the cliffs and arroyos in the changing light but by the sense of being a part of the current life of those multitudes of people who lived there, struggling, building, surviving and then leaving.
Her work is her passion and her life is her work with a goal that all who view her art will feel not only the beauty and majesty of the land the she loves, but the spirit of those who have preceded us.
