Early awareness of the art of welding, by watching his grandfather, a master welder, and 30+ years of exploring many media, including lithography, air brush, watercolor and etched glass, along with welding, has made O.K. Harris one of the most divergent and prolific artists of the Southwest.

His love of welding steel into unexpectedly animated, often kinetic and always charismatic creatures and designs. Harris has always defied the hierarchy of cold bronze seriousness by taking a heavyweight piece of steel, rusty surface and all, and burning into it a delight, humor an anthropomorphic identity.

As a reviewer once wrote, "despite himself, he was entranced with the delight he felt from the creature of steel".
